This level of policing property is toxic. It’s anti-human.
a lot of things like this are also designed to be “artsy”. if you see weird abstract chairs or futuristic styles of subway benches or statues / boulders in little alcoves, a lot of it is intentional to keep people from being able to sit comfortably or lay down in that space. ex:
Note the adhoc striping on the boulder and note that lgbtq teens have some of the highest rates of homelessness
And can we also talk about how those benches loose more and more of their function to everyone else, too, the more they are designed to be uncomfortable to the homeless? Stuff like having the seating at uncomfortable angles often also makes them intolerable as a resting spot to people who just wanna sit down for a few minutes.
Cities will rather have everyone be uncomfortable than god forbid someone sleep where they could be a nuisance to them.
